Țara Dornelor sits on mineral water. Vatra Dornei grew into a spa town in the late 19th century, around its carbonated springs. The Dorna and Poiana Negri waters are still bottled today in Dorna Candrenilor, on the road between the cabins and the town.

In the Central Park in Vatra Dornei you drink the water straight from the spring. For warm water there’s the spa centre in Dorna Candrenilor, with pools and saunas, or the treatments at the Călimani treatment centre.

Getting there

Head east on the DN17 (E58), towards Vatra Dornei. After ~10 km you reach Dorna Candrenilor; the spa centre is right on the main road. Drive another ~7 km and you’re in Vatra Dornei: the Central Park, the Cazinoul Băilor and the Bradul and Călimani hotels are in the centre, a few steps from one another.
