Slopes for beginners, night skiing in the park and the hot tub afterwards
Vatra Dornei has a small ski area, with ~5.5 km of slopes, starting right behind the Central Park. Parc 1, Parc 2 and Veverița are short and linked to one another, with drag lifts, snow cannons and lights in the evening. Dealul Negru has the town’s old chairlift.
These are good slopes for beginners, children and intermediate skiers. You ski in the morning and you’re back in the hot tub in the afternoon.

Getting there
Head east on the DN17 (E58), ~17 km, to the centre of Vatra Dornei. The Parc and Veverița slopes start behind the Central Park, ~500 m from the centre; there is a small car park at the bottom of Veverița. The Dealul Negru chairlift leaves from Negrești Street, not from the park.

What to see and what to do

The Parc 1 slope (~900 m): drag lift, nursery slope, night skiing, good for your first days.

The Parc 2 slope (~550 m), wide and easy, linked at the top to Parc 1 and Veverița.

The Veverița slope (~780 m, intermediate), with night skiing and a hot-drinks stand at the top.

The Dealul Negru slope (~3 km), with the chairlift that climbs to ~1,270 m.

For quieter slopes: Cârlibaba, ~1 h from the cabins.
